The clinical research project “Ayurvedic management of chronic joint disorders” was awarded to the Vaidyaratnam Ayurveda Foundation by the Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India and funded under the programme - Centre of Excellence in Ayurveda. In this study programme five rheumatological conditions were identified, they are Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriatic Arthritis, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Gouty Arthritis and Systemic Lupus Erythematosus. The protocol of the project was approved by IEC and registered with CTRI (REF/2015/06/009274 for PSORIATIC ARTHRITIS, REF/2015/07/009280 for GOUTY ARTHRITIS, REF/2015/07/009282 for ANKYLOSING SPONDYLITIS,REF/2015/06/009268 for RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS.).
