Ayurvedic point of view :

This formulation is predominant of madhura rasa, guru, snigdha guna, sita virya and madhura vipaka. Madhura rasa is vata pitha samaka and kapha vardhaka. It acts as dhatu vardhana, balya, Jeevaniya, Brimhaniya, Sandhana kara and indriya prasadana.  In this formulation aswagandha and musali are sukrala drugs, So it helps to increase the sperm count. According to Chakrapani  ksheera  is Sukra sruti vridhikara. The drugs like Aswagandha, Musali, sringataka, kapikachu,  Athibala and ksheera are vrisya(Aphrodisiac). According to Bhava prakasha, khanda sharkara ( sugar candy)  is vrisya, caksusyam, brimhana and balya. According to Vagbhata, ghrita is ideal for  improving intellegence, memory, long life, semen, those who desire more children, and is best among fatty materials. It may be stated that increased pH (>8.5) of seminal plasma may be considered as ruksha as at this pH,  seminal plasma exerts reverse osmotic pressure on sperms and thus hampers normal function of spermatozoa.  Snigdha property antagonistic to ruksha helps to decrease the increased pH. Acharya charaka has grouped  Aswagandha in brimhaniya and balya dashemani. Athibala is also included in balya dashemani. Jivanthi and punarnava are included in vayasthapana dashemani(longevity promoters). This formulation is mainly acts as vajikarana.
