Modern point of view :

Ayurvedic point of view:
This formulation is predominant of madhura kashaya amla katu rasa and snigdha guna. Hareethaki, maricha, pippali, sunti, rasona and saindhava are deepana. Maricha, pippali, sunti and jambeera acts as pachana. Hareethaki is anulomana. Amalaki, sunti, jambeera and saindhava are ruchya. This formulation can be given in second phase of amlapitha due to the predominance of madhura and snigdha guna. In the first stage amapachana oushadhas with thiktha rasa is the best choice.
